and Geography at the University of Wisconsin-Madison
(1950-1967) and Professor of Geography at the University of California, Los Angeles (1967-1995) prepared by four of his graduate students. His research centered on: 1) genus
Amaranthus; 2) distribution of plants on tropical beaches in the Caribbean and the Western Indian Ocean; and 3)
domestication of crop plants.
