Enhancing teaching, learning, and increasing student achievement at scale is an aspiration implicit in most one-to-one laptop computer initiatives. That aspi-
ration is based on an argument that putting laptop computers in the hands of students and teachers will serve as a transformational lever for improving edu-
cation (Glennan & Melmad, 1996; Schank, 2004; Stallard & Cocker, 2001; Van Horn, 1996).
