ABSTRACT:
The trials were carried out in the year 2001, on four farms keeping animals of different size and of different manure handling techniques. The purpose of the study was to determine nitrogen losses occurring due to ammonia emission in cattle and pig houses. The intensity of ammonia nitrogen evaporation was determined by the amount of ammonia evaporation from the floor surface. It has been determined that the level of ammonia nitrogen evaporation from the surface of various technological zones in cattle and pig houses was different. The highest nitrogen losses regarding cattle houses were determined in heifer houses (52.20 – 96.73 mg/m2/h) and in pigsties where sows and piglets were housed (41.80–89.54 mg/m2/h).
