ABSTRACT:
The way of birds’ keeping directly influences the pollution with dangerous materials, dust emission and microbiological pollution in farms. Chemical and microbiological pollutants are the risk factors for the health of human beings and animals over the world. The studies were conducted at the Institute of Animal Science of Lithuanian Veterinary Academy, at the Department of Animal Hygiene and Ecology and on the ducks farm in the northern part of Lithuania with the purposes to determine the balance of nutrient and to estimate level of chemical and microbiological pollution emission on the indoor environment. The average nitrogen emission factor of 14.90±2.47 % was determined in ducks houses where poultry reared on floor. The average concentration of moulds fungi propagules was 65±14 CFU m-3. Adequate microclimate in the living area of ducks is essential to their welfare and performance.
