In Brazil there were two independent currents in the reception and application of Gestalt theory, represented by Nilton Campos in Rio de Janeiro and Annita Cabral in São Paulo. Both have successors, Antônio Gomes Penna in Rio de Janeiro and a number of psychologists in São Paulo, together with other psychologists, architects, painters, and a known art critic.
