ABSTRACT:
The evaluation and validation of analytical methods and instruments require comparison studies using samples of raw material for testing the accuracy and precision. Traditionally, in analytical chemistry the correlation coefficient "r" is calculated and equality is tasted with the parameters of the linear model. In this paper the results from ordinary least squares method were compared with a new regression procedure that takes into account the errors in both variables (methods). After a discussion of the properties of the regression procedures, reccomandation are given for carrying out a method comparison study. The robust behaviour of the regression procedure proposed is demonstrated by different data sets.
