EDITORIAL STATEMENT:
The Baltic International Yearbook of Cognition, Logic and Communication is an interdisciplinary undertaking emphasising equally the theoretical, experimental and practical dimensions of modern communication and information systems. Scholars of all related disciplines are invited to contribute to this unique project.
The focus of The Yearbook will be on formal models of communication (including virtual, computer generated prototypes) and the assessment of cognitive-psychological dimensions which these models entail. A secondary but equally important focus of The Yearbook is to highlight and advance the field of formal communication studies within the Baltic states. Accordingly, the editors invite international contributions which will both support local (Baltic regional) research and inspire international co-operation within this broad and vital area of study. This international networking is essential because current logic and cognitive sciences have been largely neglected in the Baltic region and because the studies that have been published seem to lack the interdisciplinary orientation requisite to this area. In order to accomplish these goals, the editorial board of The Yearbook will also organise conferences and colloquia within the Baltic region designed to address The Yearbook’s objectives.
The Yearbook therefore, seeks contributions from such fields as formal logic, computer sciences and AI-research, philosophy (in general), psychology, linguistics, and the philosophy of cognitive and information processing systems. Studies examining the history and development of these disciplines are also welcome provided they relate to the scopes and aims of The Yearbook.
