ABSTRACT:
In this review, the authors introduce Japanese studies of visual forms originated from Gestalt theory, illustrating a specific feature of these studies in the light of the present status of Gestalt psychology. Throughout these studies, the significance of Japanese researches contributed to the development of Gestalt theory is discussed, and methodological retrospects necessary for the further advancement of the theories are pointed out.
