ABSTRACT:

18 junior hockey players were measured for physiological evaluation. Age, height, weight, VO2 max, Fat% and Back strength were measured. The average age, height, weight, VO2 max, Fat% and Back strength were 16.3 ± 3.2 yrs, 164.1 ± 6.6 cm, 50.1 ± 8.4 kg, 52.0 ± 3.4 ml/kg/min, 16.1 ± 2.3 % and 96.0 ± 20.2 kg respectively. The average relative back strength was 1.9 kg/kg body wt, which is comparatively less than other Indian study. It was found that the height and weight were very similar to other games. But fat% is slightly high. Aerobic power is average in comparision to other games. Back strength was good as compared with other games, but relative back strength is comparatively less than Indian standard.
