ABSTRACT:
Boys and girls attending the eighth and ninth class of an intermediate school were tested with regard to aggressive tendencies. We used two questionnaires (PFK 9-14 and an instrument measuring hostility according to Bottenberg) as well as two „projective“ techniques, namely a german version of the „hand test“ and a modification of the Wilde Wunschprobe (some sort of a fancy game, involving the imagination of various non-human possibilities of one’s own existence and individual statements to these). The resulting data were compared with each other and with ratings by a pedagogue. All together the following conclusions are possible: Using common assessment methods, namely interviews and questionnaires, the aggressive potential at intermediate schools is probably depreciated. So-called projective techniques seem to be better suited in detecting this personality characteristic. Even long-term observation of behaviour occasionally may not disclose existing aggressive inclinations. This is demonstrated with reference to an individual case.
