ABSTRACT:
This study analyses Walter Benjamin's "Arcades Project" from a number of philosophical perspectives, stressing relationality as the book's key organising concept and arguing that Benjamin's method anticipates crucial aspects of the Internet.

The on-line version (see URL) has been updated from the published version. The paper was originally given as a lecture in 2002 in India, at Kakatiya University (Warangal) and CIEFL (Hyderabad). It has appeared on reading lists at the folowing universitie:; Leeds (England), Aberdeen (Scotland) and British Columbia (Canada).
