ABSTRACT:
In 1976, Dr. Silvern was working at the Marine Corps Training Center at Twentynine Palms, CA. He was invited by the U.S. Air Force, Air Training Command, to instruct his course "Designing Instructional Systems" (DETS) at Randolph Air Force Base, Texas.

Because of his contractual commitment with The Ford Motor Company's Western Development Laboratories there, he was unable to comply directly.

A contractual arrangement was made with The Ford Motor Company permitting him to present this course in Texas. When completed he returned to Twentynine Palms, CA. to continue with the Marine Corps.

One of his students was H. D. Goodman OPR:MPPTS (ATC/XPTI). Mr. Goodman used the model he had produced in DETS as the basis for the flowchart model in this set of 6 volumes in July 1978 (see Volume I, page i, bottom).
