ABSTRACT:
Simeon Schwemberger captured the genre scenes of daily life for Franciscan missionaries in early 20th century Arizona. His views of the process of conversion of the Navajo and Pueblo records cultures in confluence and change.
Also caught are rare views of changing ways, new influences, and adaptation from the post-Bosque Redondo removal for Navajo. Looking deeper under the surface image however, some clues are revealing other stories yet to be told.
