ABSTRACT:
This full-length play explores the adventures of Oliver Milford, a young, Black Indian artist, scholar and keeper of the urban griot tradition. Act I, "Working Things Out" looks at his doomed relationship with Janet, a young aspiring poet. Act II, "Playing Spades" depicts a friday night card game and BS session with Oliver's buddies, wher they try to reach out to a teenager before he makes a fatal mistake. Meanwhile, there is a national manhunt for an escaped convict called "OM." who is described as a Black man in a hat.
