ABSTRACT:
Traditional project management (PM) models are incomplete as they focus on the competence to manage single projects. While the professional discipline of PM perceives the world through the eyes of the project manager, this paper broadens the scope from single projects to projects in their corporate and social context, i.e. PM is understood as an integral part of management. Or, in other words, the focus is not laid on projects and PM but on corporations and management in general.
This broadened scope is illuminated from different perspectives, enhanced with insights to the practice of Professional Service Firms and structured using appropriate systemic approaches. The author proposes a blueprint of an innovative and refreshingly different reference model which will (hopefully) become a best practice standard for project-friendly environments and project-conscious management.
This paper presents selected highlights of a book planned to be published in spring 2006.
