ABSTRACT:
Authors conducted research of achievement motivation and burnout, in which 61 police officers of Police administration of Kranj (Slovenia) participated. They used Costello’s questionnaire of achievement motivation and Maslach burnout inventory (MBI). Authors tied results with number of complaints, evaluation of working effectiveness and size of police unit. Reader can meet chosen literature about achievement motivation and burnout, as the chosen literature about used methods. Research was based upon basic assumption, that achievement motivation and burnout are connected variables, which are at the same time connected with number of complains, evaluation of working effectiveness and size of police unit. Results showed (1) important connection between achievements with own effort and frequency of depersonalisation and personal fulfilments, (2) important positive connection between size of unit and frequency and intensity of emotional fatigue, (3) depersonalisation was connected with size of unit and working environment (ground, office). Beside this, listed contribution shows some guidelines for further research, as also usability of results of present research for management of police units.
