ABSTRACT:
The “traditional” Requirements Engineering (RE) process is based on assumptions that are partially valid for the development of Web business applications. This paper proposes a process for Web Requirements Engineering (WRE) based on Viewpoint-Oriented Requirements Definition (VORD) that caters for the unique facets of Web applications (WebApps) by aligning requirements with business strategy and meeting business needs. For an effective WRE process, three stages are suggested: first stage focuses on exploring the Web business vision and strategy, then Web Viewpoints and their associated services are initially discovered, and finally a detailed requirements description of each service and viewpoint is discussed with an evaluation of their impact on current business processes.
