ABSTRACT:
Wolfgang Metzger’s conception of reality provides a sound basis on which to reflect about educational and therapeutic work with children. Concrete examples are given to illustrate Metzger's learned exposition of his highly differentiated concept of reality. This enables a
better understanding of the children concerned, as well as reliable theoretical foundation for therapeutic interventions.
Shown is that the densely formulated thoughts of Metzger are not just abstract theories suffocating in science’s ivory tower, but that they are very helpful in the day-to-day practice with children because they can clarify how children experience their world.
