ABSTRACT:
The most important basic positions of Gottschaldt were shortly sketched. A concise description of the Konstanzer Erfolgs-Mißerfolgs-Batterie (KEMB) [Constance Success-Failure-Battery] followed, which is an instrument for assessing complex aspects of achievement motivation. It rests upon a conception developed by Gottschaldt. We tested 61 pupils of a modern secondary school. Our results gained by means of the KEMB were correlated with performance variables and those concerning class room climate as well as self-image facets. Mainly these data showed - in accordance with Gottschaldt's theoretical conceptions - the following: - Associations between (inner-)personal factors, which can be interpreted in a holistic way; - the dependence of these from diverse environmental conditions, - and finally the practical usefulness of the KEMB as an improved instrument, based on Gottschaldt's ideas.
