ABSTRACT:
Actual psychiatric classification systems - ICD-10 and DSM-IV - were subjected to a critical review. With reference to possible psychological alternatives we have to consider a holistic view of men and a comprehensive regard of all important relevant perspectives. While a strictly dimensional collecting of data is an adequate primary step toward a satisfactory assessment in clinical psychology, this proceeding has to be improved by a holistic integration of all available informations about the respective case, considering its individuality instead of dealing with mental disorders in a stereotyped way.
