ABSTRACT:
In an electronic detector experiment conducted at Saclay (France), we observed the disintegration of the neutral K (long) into a pion, electron, and neutrino and measured the energy dependence of the hadronic current form factor f plus. This form factor depends only on q squared, the square of the four-momentum transfered to the two leptons. The linear dependence is characterized by the term lambda plus, which multiplies the term in q squared over m pi squared. For an ensemble of 841 events, we obtained a value of lambda plus of 0.041 plus or minus 0.016. This value is to be compared with the value of 0.023 predicted by the pole dominance theory applied to the resonance K*(890). We found no evidence for a term in q to the fourth power.
