ABSTRACT:
This paper investigates enterprise portal technology, artificial agents, and Peer-to-Peer networking technology. On the basis of the knowledge management context that is first outlined, the major building blocks, features, and characteristics of the three technologies are analysed and their applicability to knowledge management is discussed. Organisational issues that have to be addressed are also explained for each of the presented technologies. The paper concludes with the presentation of a model that maps the three technologies to the knowledge management focus and allows comparisons in terms of supported knowledge processes and the level of centralisation or decentralisation respectively.
