This essay shows both, the development of the Gestalt Theoretical Psychotherapy founded by Hans-Jürgen Walter as well as the relevance of this Gestalt theoretical approach for psychotherapy in general during the last twenty years. While reviewing these decades the question is pursued, what is the importance of Gestalt theory for laying the foundation of an integrative psychotherapy that is transgressing the borders of already existing schools of psychotherapy?
