ABSTRACT:
The article summarizes research results about global conflict from the main research publications and focuses them on the trajectory of the European Union, which, according to the author, will unfortunately embark on a terra ferma concept and which will embark on a strategy of global challenge and world political conflict in the long period. The vision of a democratic European Union, proposed by foreign minister Joschka Fischer in his speech at Humboldt University, is the only viable alternative. The article focuses also on the regional implications of the present tendencies: the region of Lower Austria, where the book was published, will be among the winners of European Union enlargement.
The book publication is dedicated to Karl Flanner, * 1920, a hero of the Austrian anti-Nazi resistance, who was imprisoned for six Years in the Dachau and Buchenwald concentration camps.
Other articles were written, among others, by Max Haller (University of Graz), Emmerich Talos (Vienna University) and Stan Nadel (Salzburg University)(an English language contribution on The German Speaking Left in the United States)
