ABSTRACT:
The cavernicolous Oliarus polyphemus from Hawai'i Island provides a model system for the study of speciation dynamics. Phylobiogeography of the cave populations points toward a young species-subspecies complex and incipient speciation. Recent studies of behavioural, morphometrical and genetic variation supports the Founder Effect Theory sensu CARSON.
