EDITORIAL STATEMENT:
The Research Institute for European and American Studies (RIEAS) is a non-profit, private, independent research and policy institute founded in 1994 and located in Athens, Greece.
RIEAS is primarily focused on promoting research and policy analysis on Southeastern Europe and the broader Eastern Mediterranean region seen as integral parts of the global security model which emerged after the implosion of the USSR.
RIEAS cooperates with other non-government organizations, especially educational and foreign policy research institutions, in providing forums for the analysis of various security, intelligence, and policy issues affecting relations between the countries of the region and the Western Alliance.
A major part of RIEAS ongoing research concentrates on Greek foreign and security policy. Greece faces long-term instability in its Balkan neighborhood, not to mention perennial tensions with Turkey.
One of RIEAS's key objectives is to offer strategic analysis of Greek security and provide pro-active, anticipatory thinking on a wide range of political and defense policy issues affecting its future.
In pursuit of its mission objectives, RIEAS particularly welcomes collaboration with younger scholars in the early stages of their academic careers.
RIEAS is committed to innovation, free thinking, and participation.
RIEAS is affiliated with the International Relations & Security Network, ISN
RIEAS regularly publishes Research and Occasional Papers and Special Reports. RIEAS Monitor, an electronic newsletter, has already appeared on the Web. RIEAS also publishes Situation Reports at irregular intervals.
Authors retain copyright of their papers. Opinions expressed in RIEAS publications do not necessarily reflect RIEAS formal positions.
RIEAS is interested in publication exchange schemes with similar institutions from abroad. Individual papers can be obtained directly from RIEAS. Please write, e-mail, or fax your request in order to receive further details.
