ABSTRACT:
The article positively reviews "Pension Reform in Europe: Process and Progress" by Robert Holzmann et al.(Editor), World Bank, Washington DC, August 2003. The author opts for a cautious three-pillar paradigmatic pension reform, and shows with macro-quantitative data that Sweden and the Netherlands - the leading "three pillar model countries" in Europe - avoid old age poverty and stimulated economic growth and employment. The book under review is considered as an important contribution towards a more rational debate on pension reforms in Europe.
