ABSTRACT:
This paper is a survey of the history of The Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod in the northeastern United States from its organization in 1847 to the late 20th century. It covers the development of the districts of the church in that area (Eastern, Atlantic, New England, New Jersey and English), its mission activities and its interactions with other Lutheran church bodies.
