ABSTRACT:
It was hypothesized that there exists a free agent syndrome--viz. upon leaving a team for selfish reasons, the free agent will experience guilt and perform less will against the team he abandoned, in comparison with other teams. A weak main effect was found, but results approached statistical significance under a priori moderating conditions, e.g., young age, no prior team.
