ABSTRACT:
With the aid of GIS software and its nearest-neighbor extension module, population distribution pattern in regular and irregular plots was studied with a revised nearest-neighbor method. The results indicate GIS can not only improve the efficiency of pattern analysis but also visually display the distribution pattern. Compared to variance-mean ratio, nearest-neighbor method is neither influenced by the size of quadrat nor by the shape of plot. It is also suitable for both regular and irregular plots.
