ABSTRACT:
Data were collected pertinent to the job performance of 1,165 non-supervisory white-collare employees in 10 branches of a financial services firm. As predicted, branches with a strong tie between pay and performance (the performance-pay correlation) were higher performing than were those with a weak tie between pay and performance.
