ABSTRACT:
The predicted downward cycle of the European position in the world system threatens to lead to a more assertive and authoritarian pattern of action vis-à-vis migration and vis-à-vis the other big trading blocs. The increasing societal role of corruption and organized crime as well as the lack of democracy within the European Union will increase, and not decrease with EU enlargement.
