ABSTRACT:
Three pastors who had been part of the Saxon Lutheran immigration to Missouri in 1839 played a signficant role in the development of the Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod in the East. The article summarizes the work of Ernst Moritz Buerger, Theodore Brohm and E. G. W. Keyl in the northeastern United States, specifically in Buffalo, New York; New York City; and Baltimore, Maryland, respectively.
