ABSTRACT:
The main focus of this paper was on the individualized approach to emotion-performance relationships in skilled soccer players. Conceptual, methodological, and empirical aspects of this research direction and consultancy based on the Individual Zones of Optimal Functioning (IZOF) model was briefly described. Prediction and explanation of interactive effects of individually optimal and dysfunctional subjective emotional experiences upon athletic performance were proposed. Selective empirical findings testing the basic assumptions of the IZOF model in soccer were described and future research directions and practical implications were suggested.
