ABSTRACT:
There is a transhistorical divide between the concepts of nature, reason, justice, freedom and progress found in the Sophistic and Anglo-French Enlightenments, and those found in the spiritual enlightenment of Plato, Aristotle, Thomas Aquinas and Marx. German idealism's position is compromised by its Hobbesian bourgeois view of nature. Bibliography pages 147-155.
