ABSTRACT:
A commentary on Martin Parker's "Critique in the Name of What? Postmodernism and Critical Approaches to Organization" (see abstract in SA 44:4) espouses the view that Parker uses subjective reasoning as if it were objective reasoning & expects one to accept his thesis - that postmodern epistemology leads to ethical/political relativism & is dangerous for organizational analysis - on his terms or be condemned outside of reasonable society. It is pointed out that terms such as modernist/postmodernist organization are a useful shorthand, & there is indeed reason to be skeptical of their efficacy, but Parker only flags the issues & does not contribute to their resolution. 4 References.
