ABSTRACT:
Data were collected for all figure and dance skating events (417 skaters or pairs) in the Winter Olympics between 1968 and 1988. Judges were found to give significantly higher scores to participants from their own countries. In addition, some scoring was guided by either nationalistic or cold-war politics.
