ABSTRACT:
This paper examined the mortality rates of 10,079 major league players and 471 managers who were active prior to the end of the 1973 season. The results indicate that there has been a linear decline in mortality in professional baseball players and managers over a near 100 year period. These results parallel the decline in mortality seen during the same time span in the general population.
