ABSTRACT:
The Profile of Moods States and the Eysenck Personality Inventory were administered to thirty-one competitive male and female body builders. The results indicate that body builders of both sexes score low on tension, depression and confusion; high on vigor, and low on fatigue and confusion; the so-called "Iceberg Profile". The results also indicate that female and male body builders have similar personal and personality characteristics. Investigates the psychological characteristics of male and female bodybuilders. Uses questionnaire date (N=31) and reports that championship caliber bodybuilders demonstrate a positive mental profile that resembles champion runners, wrestlers and oarsmen. Suggests that they also have similar trait characteristics to the general population and that males and females have similar personality characteristics.
