ABSTRACT:
Sixty subjects were randomly assigned to either a 15, 30 or 60 second psych-up interval and performed a weight lifting task after using one of the following psych-up techniques: preparatory arousal, imagery, attentional focus, or control. The results indicate that there were no significant affects attributable to length of psych-up. However subjects performed better in the psych-up conditions than in the control condition.
