ABSTRACT:
Reviews and organizes the material regarding reward systems of children's athletics and discusses conclusions in light of the more recently reported research. Argues that much of the concern about the use of extrinsic rewards may be unfounded and that the undermining effect may not occur in the field setting to the extent that it does in the lab setting.
