ABSTRACT:
Determines what social-economic factors influenced American spectators to attend the 1976 Summer Olympics. Subjects were 764 American spectators selected from a file of Olympic ticket buyers and data were gathered from questionnaires. Examined demographic variables, involvement in sport activities, previous experience with the Olympic Games, attitude toward the Olympic movement, and motivation for attending the Olympic Games. Found that 74% of the subjects were male and that the subjects as a group had a very high educational background.
