ABSTRACT:
Determines the effects of various physical activity and sport situational settings on the anxiety level of children participating in a sports fitness program. Anxiety was assessed by the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory for Children (A-state) pre and post participation in specific physical activity (50 meter run) within an individual and small group setting. The Sport Competition Anxiety Test was used to measure trait anxiety (A-trait). Parents provided information on their child's competitiveness, sociability, age, sex, ordinal positioning and significant others. ANOVA indicated that children did not significantly increase anxiety level when participating in various activity situations.
