ABSTRACT:
Investigates the personalities, as measured by the Personality Research Form (PRF) of ski instructors (n=118). Instructor scores differed from PRF norms on 17 of the 21 scales. Ski instructors described themselves as being competitive, goal-oriented and independent, while also being socially adept, nurturant and greatly aware of seasonal experiences produced by their physical environment. This study provides psychological data on skiers as an athletic subgroup, helps professionalize ski instructing in general and introduces the PRF as a psychometrically sound assessment instrument.
