ABSTRACT:
Examines the effects of participation in intercollegiate sports on subsequent occupational attainment. Athletic categories consisted of star, major sport star, team sport, and spatially central playing position. Dependent variables were occupational prestige and earnings. Results refuted the notion that athletics act as a stepping stone to success.
