ABSTRACT:
Psychophysiology has received little attention in exercise and sport research. This paper reviewed several topics within the psychophysiology literature. Section one examined the generalization of fitness-induced resistance to psychosocial stressors, the interrelationship of personality factors with physiological responses to exercise stress and biofeedback applications. Section two discussed arousal and anxiety processes during sport, attention and information processing during sport, psychophysiological assessment of cognition in sport and improvement of athletic performance and metabolic efficiency via cognitive and feedback interventions.
