ABSTRACT:
Addresses the perceptions of older adults regarding the age-appropriateness of physical activity. Older men (n=18) and older women (n=44) respond to the Activity Appropriateness Scale. Finds that subjects view participation in each of the physical activities examined as less appropriate with increasing age. Subjects consider participation in all physical activities to be more appropriate for males than females. Concludes that age is a much greater influence than gender on older adults' perceptions of the appropriateness of physical activity across the life cycle.
