ABSTRACT:
This investigation studied the effects of passive (instance-by instance practise) and active (practise using several items together) rehearsal on the developmental processing differences for movement reproduction. The authors hypothesized that the use of the mature active rehearsal would facilitate the movement reproduction of young children whereas the use of the immature passive rehearsal would decrease the movement reproduction of adults. The authors tested this hypothesis in a group of 120 subjects, who were divided into four equal groups by ages (5, 7, 11, 19 years). The results confirm the hypothesis and demonstrate the importance of active rehearsal for the younger children.
