ABSTRACT:
This article describes a model for the empirical determination of a valid cutoff score on a physical performance measure used for the purpose of job selection. Subjects performed a criterion test as well as a decision test utilizing a bicycle ergometer and a box-stepping measure of maximal oxygen uptake, respectively. A validity coefficient was calculated for each cutoff score derived from three classification of outcome probabilities. The proposed model was found to offer a useful approach for the determination of valid cutoff scores.
