ABSTRACT:
Discusses the inconclusive literature as to whether there are unique and consistent attributes among physical educators and/or coaches. Considers the possible conditioning effects of anticipatory socialization, occupational socialization, role expectancies and specific situational conditions upon the occupational role. Concludes that some progress has been made and that further study is needed.
